Global Ex Situ conservation and research involves institutions from around the world such as zoos and universities. These institutions not only complete their own work in contributing to the world’s flamingo knowledge but are also major supporters of In Situ, or “on-site” flamingo work, helping make conservation a synergistic effort.

In Situ flamingo conservation occurs in or near flamingo habitats or where flamingos have lived historically and this type of work can involve researchers, local communities, and governments agencies. Frequently Ex Situ conservation is supported by governments and /or In Situ institutions.
